Letter from Arthur Shields, Hotel Georgian, Terrace, Atlanta, Georgia addressed to Lini Saurin. Shields writes of Tuskegee University, Alabama where the Abbey touring company performed 'It's a big negro college of the south, in fact the principle negro coll of the States...You cannot imagine how fine those audiences were. So quick in seeing the humour that is so often lost on the white audiences here.' He also writes with reference to the 16 February 1932 general elections in Ireland 'Heard today for the first time the real results of the elections. I wonder what will happen. I'm sure we'll loose the grant. I really think though that a change of government - that is not too drastic a change - will be good for the country.'
