Amnesty International publications published between 1991 and 1994 regarding the detainment and torture of lawyers in Turkey, including graphic descriptions of torture methods employed against the lawyers. The appendix includes four issues of Amnesty's Urgent Action publication published between 19 November 1993 and 25 January 1994 discussing the detentions of the lawyers who are applicants in the Elçi and others case. It is noted in the 19 December 1993 issue that 16 defence lawyers in Diyarbakır and İstanbul have been detained without being informed of the charges against them; the formal indictment would not come until 22 December 1993 (A44/43/1/28/1/2/5).
