Photocopy of McAdoo, William (1906). Guarding a Great City New York and London: Harper & Brothers. William McAdoo was a lawyer and Democratic Party politician who represented New Jersey's 7th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 1883 to 1891, and served as New York City Police Commissioner from 1904 to 1906. He was born in Rathmelton, Co. Donegal on 25 October 1853. His family emigrated to the United States and settled in Jersey City, New Jersey in 1865. McAdoo died on 7 June 1930 in New York City.
