Scope and content
Reply of the applicant to the observations of the Government of Turkey submitted to the European Commission of Human Rights in the Süheyla Aydın case. The reply submits that any purported domestic remedy is illusory and ineffective, that the Government offers no explanation as to why Necati Aydın and Mehmet Ay never reemerged from the front of the State Security Court to their waiting families, or how they could have been abducted by terrorists from the Court building. The reply notes that the applicant has a history of being persecuted by security forces and government officials, notes the disproportionate violations of Kurds by security forces, and argues that the Government makes a practice of ineffective remedies to such problems. Attached is the new Appendix M to Süheyla Aydın's application, copies of articles from the Guardian and Stern newspapers published in May 1995 documenting the Turkey-PKK conflict and related human rights violations.
