Report on the 17-21 November 1997 hearing in the Berktay case prepared by Tony Fisher of the Kurdish Human Rights Project for Kevin Boyle. Fisher summarises the hearings, concluding that the police evidence was unconvincing, inconsistent, and showed evidence of a substantial cover-up. He outlines the next steps to be taken regarding the case, including the provision of full translation of all documentation produced by the Government to be provided by the KHRP to the Essex legal team, obtaining for further medical evidence concerning the consistency of Devrim Berktay's injuries with attempted suicide/escape, and the taking of measurements of the Berktay flat and balcony (see A44/43/1/16/10/3).
