              Three copies of a letter written by Billy Kirwan of the Language Freedom Movement to the Irish Farmer's Journal, responding to an article written by Gertrude Deacon entitled 'Not Irish Again', in which she defends the teaching of Irish. In the letter, Kirwan discusses the impact of policies on the quality of education, and the cost of the policy to the taxpayer.

              Letter from Patrick Browne, Honorary Secretary of the Language Freedom Movement addressed to Sir (unknown). Outlines 15 points regarding the need for an official plebiscite to measure the attitude of the Irish people towards language policy. Expresses disappointment that this question is not to be addressed in a forthcoming Referendum to amend the Constitution, and makes a thorough argument for the need for a referendum on Article 8.

              Letter from Patrick Browne, Honorary Secretary of the Language Freedom Movement, to T. J. Egan, Secretary to the Film Industry Committee, enclosing a statement of policy of the LFM. Discusses the responsibility of the emerging film industry in Ireland as an important means of communication, and emphasises the importance of not letting one body of political, cultural or philosophical opinion get in control of the medium.

              Letter from Pan Collins, RTÉ, to Christopher Morris responding to comments regarding a possible talk on The Late Late Show about the language question. Advises The Late Late would be very willing to give the subject an airing, but encounter difficulties in trying to get a prominent opponent in the arena. Compliments Morris on his performance on 'Féach'.

              Letter from T. P. Hardiman, Director-General of RTÉ to Jane Carroll, responding to her remarks on the recent television series 'Watch Your Language'. He argues that they have carefully considered, but cannot accept the suggestion that the series did not represent all sides fairly. Handwritten notes on back of the page, entitled 'The by-election', and putting together some thoughts on civil rights, and favourable status given to a minority.

              Copy cover letter dated 19 December 1970 from Christopher Morris to James McLaughlin Poole enclosing an evaluation of an article that appeared in 'The F.F. News', the evaluation and the article are not included. Offers a summary of the Language Freedom Movement's viewpoint, states his willingness to meet with anyone to discuss the language issue. Reply from Mr. Poole thanking Mr. Morris for his most interesting letter dated 6/1/70 (this date does not correspond with the copy of Mr. Morris's original letter held in this collection, however Mr. Poole refers to enclosures in his response, so it seems to be the same piece of correspondence). Mr. Poole advises he has forwarded Mr. Morris' treatise to the author of the article in order to have his views before any approach is made to higher echelons. He compliments Mr. Morris on his dedication to the cause.

              Letter from John [Maurice] Kelly, (Fine Gael Senator on the cultural and educational panel). Replies to a previous letter which sought advice, and advises he has passed his letter on to Paddy Belton, the local deputy, who might be able to think of a suitable role for him. The original letter is not included in this collection, so it is unclear what matter they are discussing. A copy of the Fine Gael Irish Language Policy is attached to the letter.

              Two copies of a letter from E. P. D'Alton, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Language Freedom Movement, to Deputy Dr. Garrett Fitzgerald, Shadow Minister for Education. Raises an apparent contradiction between Resolution 24 as adopted in the recent Fine Gael Árd Fheis, and Fine Gael's language policy. A cut out of the motions from this Árd Fheis is included.
