Material in this file consists of correspondence Nov-Dec 1981 including from Paul McLaughlin, Arthur Cox & Co solicitors (for John Paul and Company Ltd, building contractors) to Nicholas Robinson (NR) in relation to possibility of out of court settlement, 17/11/1981; correspondence from/on behalf of H.C. Kruger, Secretary to the European Commission of Human Rights to Messrs Walsh O'Connor & Co in relation to Francis X. Martin (FXM) v Ireland including mention of adjourning the case pending outcome of the Supreme Court 12/11-10/12/1981; letter from FXM to Robinsons, 18/12/1981 including reference to NR landing new post [NR becomes Director of The National Heritage Trust]; letter from Mary Redmond to NR asking for clarification on whether the case was a landmark interalia case because of its relator aspects 22/12/1981.
[Archivist's Note: On NR becoming Director of NHT, he relinquishes his practice effectively and recommends FXM use Walsh O'Connor & Co Solicitors - FXM however without realising Brendan Walsh of WO'C&Co was happy to take on case, had gone elsewhere to his cousin Rowena Mulcahy (neé Martin) who had worked with NR on case and who had since set up on her own ].
