              File of records from the Field Day Theatre Company's production of Thomas Kilroy's play Double Cross, starting with a performance in Derry (11 February 1986), then touring Ireland with a run at The Gate Theatre, followed by a run at the Royal Court Theatre, London. Directed by Jim Sheridan; starring Stephen Rea, Kate O'Toole, Richard Howard. Containing correspondence (with Margaret Ramsay Ltd, Field Day, members of the public); printed programmes and promotional material; newspaper reviews including a copy of Theatre Ireland (May/August 1988) with an article about the play by Gerard Dawe. Including legal correspondence with Ramsay (and memorandum of agreement, 28 May 1985), correspondence from biographer Charles Lysaght, Jim Sheridan, from Séamus Deane (fragment letter); article in magazine Play and Players (March 1986). Also including correspondence from late 1992/ early 1993 between Kilroy's agents, the BBC World Service, and a member of the viewing public, suggesting that the play was produced by the BBC and broadcast in 1992, with [Stephen Rea].

Including key articles by Mark Rosselli for The Observer entitled 'Ulster foes exposed on secret path to peace', and by David McKittrick for The Independent on Sunday entitled 'Disbelief in Britain's words...'; both with marginalia and markings by [Éamonn Downey].

Including correspondence between the director, the author, and the cast; rehearsal schedule; historical research done for the director; printed programmes and fliers (one advertising Stephen Rea's participation, otherwise replaced by Richard McMillan); press reviews (some focussing on the Equity trade union's case preventing Stephen Rea from performing in the US). The theatre programme includes a piece by Kilroy entitled "Adapting Pirandello". Also including a letter from Chris Luthin originally enclosing draft of an interview with Kilroy; interview by Thierry Dubost with director Paul. [This belongs together with the preceding three items, production and rehearsal scripts.]

Later letters from Prendergast to Rynne outline her plans to undertake a report chronicling the history of the National Museum of Ireland. Policy in Relation to Human Rights Defenders." Further details of the seminar are outlined. Attached is a copy of a letter by Kevin Boyle and addressed to John Biggar, Head, Human Rights Unit, Department of Foreign Affairs, Dublin, enclosing papers from the Association of Human Rights Institutes Essex conference on U.N.
