              Files of documents referring to the Section 31 media ban in Ireland which relates to a development during the Troubles in Northern Ireland where Sinn Féin and IRA members, under Section 31 of the Broadcasting Authority Act, were forbidden to be broadcast in the media. This rule was brought in by Fianna Fáil Minister for Posts and Telegraphs Gerry Collins in 1971 and strengthened by Labour's Conor Cruise O'Brien in 1977.

              File relating primarily to the secondment of Hugh Logue from the European Commission to work as special advisor and of the establishment of the Northern Ireland Assembly. File is arranged as per original structure with some subject/section dividers in place, including those labelled "The Agreement", "Terms and Conditions", "Proposals", "Departmental Structures", "Civic Forum". File includes some manuscript notes by Logue on early points to discuss on party agreements etc., Series of Fax correspondence between Hugh Logue and J.G. Hunter of Central Personnel Group, Northern Ireland Civil Service, discussing terms and conditions of the secondment of Hugh Logue as Special Advisor to the Assembly from his current position at the European Commission (14 Aug 1998); Letter from Logue to Hunter seeking more information on the role and function of the new position (15 Aug 1998); Typed series of pages with cover letter signed by Logue and sent to Seamus Mallon (15 Aug 1998), the cover letter states "Word is just coming in of the utter horror of Omagh [Bombing], and much of the work attached feels empty". The 13-page fax by Logue sent to Mallon includes discussions on the "Departmental Structures - Considerations"; "Suggestions for New Departmental Structures Based on Existing N. Ireland Departments", "North-South Provisions", "Civic Forum".
              Document under section "Timetable" includes a multi-page typed "Deputy First Minister's Diary" for 24 Aug - 31 Oct 1998.

              Timetable to the Meeting of the Assembly (14 Sept 1998) sent to First Minister by Paul Sweeney; Document by John Semple entitled "Deputy First Ministers - Special Advisors" (17 Aug 1998) and also by Semple, "Organisation at the Centre of the New Administration" (13 Aug 1998); Sweeney to Deputy First Minister "Options for Departmental Structures and Ministerial Structures and Ministerial Portfolios" (17 Aug 1998).
