Included are descriptions of Lackanbuddaghaun (also known as Finn Mac Cumhail's stone, or The Smoothing Iron), Kylemore Bridge, Dean's Lodge, and a series of stories about Scailp Johnny (also known as Johnny the Outlaw, the younger son of John Gibbons of Westport, who lived in the early nineteenth century.

Included are descriptions of Kylemore Castle/Abbey, Beannaí Mhóra, Lough Tauther, Duchrua, Kylemore Gardens, Culóg, and Kylemore Church and Mausoleum. Also included are a short biography of Mitchell Henry, a consulting surgeon in Middlesex Hospital, who represented Galway as an MP in the late nineteenth century. Also a short outline of relevant members of the Wilberforce family. A Mr. Mangan of Currywongan is credited with providing some of the local information.
