Photocopy of a typescript version of 'The Story of The Hotel Metropole in Easter Week' by Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Saurin which originally appear in 'An tÓglach' an Irish Army publication. The piece recounts the story of the occupation of the hotel by insurgent forces during the 1916 rising. Saurin writes 'From the military point of view, the effect of its occupation on the forces opposed to us was moral rather than material. Some really good marksmanship was displayed by a couple of men located at the Abbey Street corner of the block of buildings which contained the Metropole but those of us who were actually quartered in the Hotel itself during Easter week were comparatively inactive.'
