Scope and content
Photocopy of a letter from R.J.P. Mortished, I.L.O., 38 Parliament Street, London, S.W.1, England addressed to Mr. Arthur Shields, 1843 North Cherokee Avenue, Hollywood, California. The letter primarily concerns Shields son Adam, Mortished writes 'About a fortnight ago Mehigan turned up at the house with Adam, announced brusquely that he could no longer take responsibility for him as he would not accept discipline, and asked if Bid[Mrs. Mortished] would take him. Bid of course said that she would be delighted. ' The letter goes on to describe how Adam had apparently been playing truant from school, that his behaviour in general is good and that he is ' capable with his hands, and when he is not scribbling drawings he is making model aeroplanes.' Mortished also writes that he had made enquiries about getting Adam a visa so he could join his father in the U.S.
