Materials pertaining to the application filed by Özkan Kılıç, later known as Özkan Kalın, on 31 August 1994 against the Republic of Turkey (application number 31236/96, referred to internally within the Kurdish Litigation Project as Case 132 and assigned to Tony Fisher as lead) with the European Commission of Human Rights regarding his conviction for publishing 'separatist propaganda' in the weekly newspaper Yeni Ülke, of which he was editor-in-chief. On 10 November 2004, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that there had been violations of Articles 6 § 1, 7, and 10 of the European Convention of Human Rights in this case. The Turkish Government were ordered to pay the applicant €13,000 in moral damages and €4,000 in legal costs and expenses.
