Scope and content
1) Letter (in English) from Maud de Boer-Buquicchio, Deputy Registrar, European Court of Human Rights, to Kevin Boyle and Françoise Hampson (18 March 1999, 2pp), enclosing:
2) Observations of the Turkish Government regarding the applicant's claims for just satisfaction in the Çakıcı case. The Government claims: that it has not been proven that Ahmet Çakıcı has disappeared or that the Government was tied to any such disappearance; that the damages claimed are excessive and do not reflect the socio-economic reality of Turkey; and no violation occurred under the European Convention on Human Rights. The Government requests that all of the applicant's claims should be dismissed (15 March 1999, 4pp);
3) Copies of the offer of legal aid from the Court for İzzet Çakıcı to be filled out by his legal representation (8 March 1999, 3pp).
Includes the posted and faxed copies of the above. One of the faxed copies of the legal aid offer has been signed by Hampson.
