Scope and content
The McSparron letters are a set of 10 letters written to and/or from American members of the McSparron family to their relatives in Feeny, County Derry between 1861 and 1882. Most prominently featured in the letters is William McSparron, who emigrated in 1854 or earlier and worked in various Pennsylvania mines. After being severely injured while fighting for the Union Army at the Battle of Fredericksburg during the American Civil War, McSparron went to Marin County, California.
