Scope and content

Letter from Kevin Boyle and Françoise Hampson to Herbert Petzold, Registrar, European Court of Human Rights, informing him that Turkish authorities have repeated their attempts to pressure Şükran Aydın into undergoing a fourth medical examination in İstanbul, threatening to take her there by force if she refused. The legal team repeats their request for Rule 36 Interim Measures, in particular requesting that the Turkish authorities be told that neither the police nor the public prosecutor should contact the applicant or her family. Attached is a fax from Kerim Yıldız, Kurdish Human Rights Project, to Hampson informing her of the new attempts made by Turkish authorities to contact Abid Aydın and have him force his wife to submit to the examination. The fax pages are heavily faded and losing legibility. Also attached are fax covers from Hampson to Caroline Nolan and H.C. Krüger forwarding the same documents. Many of the pages in this item are water-stained.
