Letter from Robert FitzGerald, Navanstown [Co. Kildare] to George Charles, 3rd Earl, congratulating him on the stand he has taken on behalf of the magistracy of Ireland against a 'tyrant censor' [the Lord Chancellor, Sir Edward Burtenshaw Sugden] and the triumph which he has obtained. Fitzgerald states that he also has been removed from the position of magistrate and he refers to the Lord Chancellor having committed 'one of the grossest acts of indiscretion' in his private life, by marrying his cook! He has written to Sir Robert Peel of the impossibility of the Lord Chancellor returning to Ireland. He hopes that the Earl will forgive him for writing, as they are not acquainted.
