Scope and content

Letter from Eneas MacDonnell, Westport Cottage, Haverstock Hill, Hampstead Road, London to George Charles, 3rd Earl, stating that on the previous Friday he had met St Clair O'Malley in the Strand, [London]. He offers to act as a mediator between the two parties and that St Clair O'Malley indicated a willingness to cooperate. However, he cannot 'feel justified in going further without your Lordship's sanction'. He hopes that Co. Mayo is peaceful and concludes 'The continuing military preparations excite much anxious enquiry here'.
