Scope and content

Letter from W stanley, Secretary, Poor Law Commission Office, Dublin to George Charles 3rd Earl, Laleham, Chertsey, Surrey, in which he writes at length in response to the Earl's letter of 14th. The Earl had claimed that they suppressed and garbled some of his letters in the compilation of the 5th and 6th series of papers concerning the state of unions and workhouses in Ireland. He refutes this and concludes his letter by condemning the 'unofficial and offensive manner in which the Earl has addressed his letters to them. Includes copy of the Earl's letter of reply from Laleham (19 Aug 1848).
