Letter from Laurie Shields addressed to Sean O'Casey from Laurie Shields. In the letter written without Arthur Shields knowledge Laurie Shields writes that her husband Arthur is rehearsing for a 'rather important local production' of 'The Plow and The Stars'; she writes 'Now that the play is in rehearsal, some of the misgiving are creeping back and he's a little short of confidence. But I've watched the rehearsals and he's really and truly grand! In fact he's actually picking up the rest of the cast.' She then goes on to ask O'Casey to 'consider sending him a warm, friendly and encouraging note just before the opening? I honestly can't think of anything else that would mean as much to him...or do him as much good.'
