Letter from Laurie Shields addressed to Barry Fitzgerald. Laurie Shields complains of the lack of work available to Arthur, she writes 'Even though the actors strike was settled and favourably so, the writers are still out. Which means as of today only about 4 TV shows are filming and they are working against a very slim pile of scripts. Everyone else is on an enforced holiday and TV today is nothing but a series of re-runs.' She also describes her hopes to enrol Christine Shields in Marymount school in Santa Barbara, she writes 'It's a wonderful school, taught by the religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary... an order well known in Ireland I'm sure' She also writes that 'Adam[Shields] and his family are all going great guns and I guess you've heard there is to be another addition there in August?' She also describes how Adam's three children are getting on.
