Shields thanks the Directors for the honouring him with life membership of the company, he also writes that he was very disappointed that his doctor refused to allow him to attend the opening of the 'New' Abbey 'but it would be remiss if [he] did not once more thank the directors for their kind invitation to an cordial reception of [his] daughter Christine.'
