Letter from Alfred Keogh, War Office, Adastral House, Victoria Embankment, London EC4, to [Peter] Freyer, the text reads as follows 'I am going to deal with the genito-urinary dept at Millbank and I have no intention of allowing you to be in any sense set aside. In great haste'. Enclosure undated draft letter from Peter Freyer to 'Dear Director General', discussing Arbuthnot Lane's recommendation 'to you' that a genito-urinary surgical department be established in the Queen Alexandra Military Hospital, Millbank, [London]. Lane did not propose to put Freyer in charge of this department because he did not have 'the time to attend to the work'. Freyer argues his case and writes that 'it will be a great pleasure to me to continue my work there during the War'. He gives details of the genito-urinary department established at Brighton for the Eastern Command on his advice early in the War, which he visits one day each week. He offers to help with the establishment of a genito-urinary department, in each of 'your commands similar to that at Brighton'. He hopes they can meet and discuss the matter.
