Scope and content

Letter from Alan Simpson, Abbey Theatre, Dublin 1, Ireland, addressed to Laurie Shields, 404 East Padre, Santa Barbara, California 93103, U.S.A. Simpson describes recent developments in the Abbey and presumably in a reference to a tour of the United States in support of the UFWOC writes 'The Gen manager (Phil O'Kelly) would accept a tour if it was fully guaranteed against loss and if we had sufficient time to prepare a good programme. Also we would require to prepare adequate programme for the Abbey while we were away. The Board also would be scared stiff if they felt there was any political involvement however oblique.'
