Correspondence relating to proposed staging of the play "The Crucible" by the UCG Dramatic Society in the Taibhdhearc. The correspondence is mainly with the Minister for Finance, Seán MacEntee, who announced the event. The Taibhdhearc sought a special grant of £300 for the event, but withdrew their application following an exchange of letters. Includes letter from Seán Mac Entee to An tOllamh Ó Murchú, thanking him for settling the matter, and hoping that the reviews planned by the Irish Advertising Congress would give some welcome publicity to the theatre (21 May 1953) [in Irish].

Correspondence relating to research carried out on the papers of Edward Choate on behalf of Laurie Shields for 'a projected study of the careers of [her] late husband, Arthur Shields, and his brother, Barry Fitzgerald'. The Choate papers were housed in the Wisconsin Center for Theatrical Research, University of Wisconsin, 6173 Vilas Communication Hall, Madison, Wisconsin 53706. Includes correspondence with Julie D'Acce, Assistant Director at the centre. Also letter dated 24 June 1974 from Lindsay B. Nauen, 16 Lathrop Street Apt. 3, Madison, Wisconsin 53705 addressed to Laurie Shields, 3111 Calle Rosales, Santa Barbara, California which was attached to 527 Xerox copies of letters from the Choate collection relating to Arthur Shields. Also includes letter from Laurie Shields addressed to Edward Choate thanking him for his help and explaining '...hired a student to Xerox everything I thought I'd find useful. Cost me $75 but it surely was worth it.' She also discusses the recent event around the impeachment of Richard Nixon at length, she writes '...if Boss was alive, the Judiciary hearings would have thrilled him, that he would have appreciated the dramatic impact of democracy in action.' Also includes a letter dated 15 October 1974 from Laurie Shields addressed to 'Miss Yeats' who was a friend of Eileen O'Conor, Laurie proposes to meet up with Miss Yeats in person on her next visit to Ireland. Also includes correspondence with Cyril Cusack, proposing a meeting to discuss the Abbey theatre in the context of Laurie's research into her late husband.
