Transcribing the diary for 1970-1972; the sections of the Red Book relevant to the 1981 hunger strike (including separate page, and with contextualising note at beginning). Further containing notes by Downey for Duddy on John Hume and the IRA, Duddy's own role; draft letter to Bertie [Ahern] on the peace process (9 November 1997); list of documents in 1975 file; notes from Mallie/McKittrick; chronology and notes on Northern Irish events since 1912. Enclosing press cutting from Letters page of the Irish Independent by Gerald Morgan entitled '1916 Rising- it's time for historians on all sides to agree on an interpretation'.

(Notes laminated and with captions and a note by [Éamonn Downey] supplying date of pieces, stating the notes were laminated in 2001, and referring to Duddy's private memoir on the hunger strikes, part 3 page 8: on 3 January Duddy met the British in London - code however is not mentioned.)

Initially, however, commenting on a matter he discussed with Duddy; he had wished to set something up before leaving but since then the weather and people's minds have changed; finding that 'the structure' is wrong but that he cannot change things from where he is now. Encouraging Duddy to do what is within his grasp to do. (With a caption by [Éamonn Downey] referring to the original document.)
