Description of a Republican attack on a Free State patrol in Ballinasloe on the 17th July 1922. Free State troops rounded up all the men and boys in the town who had known or suspected Republican sympathies on 22 July 1922. Republicans attacked a Free State barracks with mines and rifles. Report authored by Markus Casey for Kenneth Bailey, Lismurtagh, Tulsk, County Roscommon. Casey was commissioned to inspect a site where Bailey was proposing to build a dwelling. Casey found no clear evidence of archaeological sites that would be disturbed by the development but noted a number of archaeological sites in the immediate vicinity including a number of ringforts.
