Cork, to Col Yates, 49th Regiment, Fermoy, submitting his application "for the sale of my Commission of Major in the 49th Regiment, in which corps I have had the honour to serve nearly twenty eight years, being appointed as ensign to it in the year 172 ,,, I purchased a company in said regiment in the year 17[ ] ... I have served several years in the West Indies at the commencement of the War in 1793 and in various other climates to the great injury of my constitution, which has become so weak and rheumatic as to compel me to make this request ..."
