A subsection of letters relating to a complaint made to the Local Government Board by John Wilson Lynch about John E Hazell, who was responsible for collecting the poor rate from John Dermody's holding in Leagh North. John Dermody had been evicted in 1889 but continued to graze the holding. He owed rates and John Wilson Lynch wanted his stock seized to pay them. William Connor agreed to take the holding in the autumn of 1889 but agreed not to stock it until the rate situation was settled. The final outcome that John E Hazell was found to have neglected his duty and had to pay the rates due or be dismissed. The problem with Dermody's holding had to be settled to that it could be let to a new tenant and then be sold with the rest of Leagh North, Roo and Shanclogh. [see LE6/B/680-753].
