Containing reviews by Hayes-McCoy of books published in English of historical interest, and often pertaining to military history. Including a review of Sir Charles Petrie's Wellington: a reassessment (1956); of Winston S. Churchill's A history of the English-speaking peoples vol.iii (1958); Cyril Falls' The first World War (1960); Captain Liddell Hart's Memoirs (1966); Thomas Pakenham's The year of liberty (1969); also contemporary concerns in Helmut Schmidt's Defence or retaliation (1963) and J.L. Moulton's Defence in a changing world (1964).
