Part of Landed Estates

Signed statement of John Wilson Lynch, on headed notepaper of the Hotel d'Angleterre, Rome, for the Court of the Land Commission, relating to the altering of rent for the cottier farmers on the Belvoir estate. He outlines previous reductions in rent and that he has paid the amount awarded for the improvement to the lands under the Sixmilebridge Drainage Scheme since 1881. He states that the tenants have gone into court without asking for settlement, 'and if their rents be still further reduced it will be simply spoilation of the most flagrant kind'. He also states that all improvements claimed by Daniel Liddy on the grass farm at Ballycullen were carried out by himself.
