References to the good character and medical ability of Peter Freyer from the staff of QCG, Dr Steevens' Hospital, Dublin and 2 surgeons working in the North West Provinces of India in the 1880s. Most of the testimonials were printed c 1889 in support of Freyer's memorial to the Secretary of State for India against the bar on his promotion, imposed by the Lieutenant Governor of the NWP and Oudh. Five of the original testimonials were not printed, see Allman, Walsh, Richardson, Geisler and Warren. The testimonials have been arranged under the 2 headings original and printed testimonials. The original testimonials have been further divided into testimonials from members of the staffs of QCG, St Steevens' Hospital and the Indian Medical Service.
