Handwritten copy of a newspaper article, detailing Adolphus Shields death after a fall on the East Pier in Howth. According to inscription the article appeared on 11 October 1923, 'no paper identification'. The reverse side contains a handwritten copy of a letter from Charles Saurin, No 1035, Hut 4, upper camp, Frongoch, Bala, N. Wales addressed to Lini Shields dated 6 July 1916. Saurin describes how he is working in the camp post office and writes that '[Tom] Pugh was up here this morning with parcels. We got out for a walk yesterday - about five minutes. This is grand country - mountains rivers, woods - grand colour.'

Letter from Laurie Shields addressed to Milt. Shields thanks Milt for taking the time to talk to her about the Arthur Shields biography project. She writes 'The book as planned will cover a period of Abbey history the publisher feels has gone unrecorded because so much of the raw data any writer might look to the Abbey files to provide was destroyed in the fire in 1951.

Also includes letter from Laurie Shields addressed to Edward Choate thanking him for his help and explaining '...hired a student to Xerox everything I thought I'd find useful. Cost me $75 but it surely was worth it.' She also discusses the recent event around the impeachment of Richard Nixon at length, she writes '...if Boss was alive, the Judiciary hearings would have thrilled him, that he would have appreciated the dramatic impact of democracy in action.' Also includes a letter dated 15 October 1974 from Laurie Shields addressed to 'Miss Yeats' who was a friend of Eileen O'Conor, Laurie proposes to meet up with Miss Yeats in person on her next visit to Ireland. Also includes correspondence with Cyril Cusack, proposing a meeting to discuss the Abbey theatre in the context of Laurie's research into her late husband.

Includes copy of a letter dated 10 December 1974 from Michael Gill for Gill and MacMillan addressed to Mrs. T. Taplinger, The Taplinger Publishing Co., Inc., 200 Park Avenue South, New York 10003 enclosing a copy of the outline. In a letter dated 27 December 1974 written by Taplinger in response and addressed to Laurie Shields, Taplinger writes that the proposal 'is interesting but I am afraid it is too specialized to find its place on our current list.' Also includes two letters from Laurie Shields addressed to Michael Gill and terry Taplinger thanking them for their help.

Entries only over the period June-December. Most entries relate simply to locations for example 1-5 July 'Oakland', 6 July 'back to SB', some detailed references to ; 'Mom' and 'Daddy' and their health.

Mostly addressed to Christine Shields, includes one card depicting a photograph of Dublin Airport in which Mortished writes 'This is where I dream of meeting you some day.'
