Letter from Martin Mahon, Greehy, Kinvara, acknowledging receipt of his letter and enclosing some money. He explains how he was delayed in going to pay Mr Kendall at Tally Ho, Athenry. In a postscript he writes "I have left here for Galway Jail to undergo the 2 months".
Miscellaneous notes and drafts made by John Wilson Lynch, which were interspersed throughout the papers. Many of these were relevant to the fixing of fair rents in the 1880s.
Copy of a note from J Warner, Inspector at Gort stating that John Griffin, son of Fergus, of Knockaculleen is applying for the post of Monitor at Duras school, and that he had passed the examination. Also on the back is a bill from Anthony and William Connor of Duras for their work as a slator.
Draft copy of statement of John Wilson Lynch before the Sub-commissioners of the Land Commissioners, relating to his tenantry in Knockaculleen, Newtown and Cregboy, Co Galway. He states that the rents were unchanged from 1818 to 1881, that barley and potatoes grow well there and that they have access to seaweed.
Letter from W Connor, Leagh North, to John Wilson Lynch stating that the lands were being grazed before he got them. He states that Dermody is still using the land, cutting seaweed, sowing potatoes and stripping part of the land for a pig-house. He states that the Kinvara sergeant wanted to know when he was to take possession of the land. Note on the back by John Wilson Lynch records that he replied to Connors, telling him to take possession of the lands immediately.
Letter from Sergeant James Colderick, Kinvara, to John Wilson Lynch, stating that the men at the barracks had not received a request for protection from Mr Hazell within the previous four months to visit the Dermody farm in Leagh North.
File of correspondence from the Secretary of the Local Government Board, to John Wilson Lynch, in relation to his charges of neglect against Mr Hazell. It includes extracts from the minutes of the Gort Board of Guardian meetings and Mr Hazell's responses to the charges. In one extract the Board state that they are satisfied with Mr Hazell, who promised to visit the farm with a view to making a seizure (9 Feb 1890). The last letter informs John Wilson Lynch that their inspector, Mr Bourke, would be holding an inquiry into the allegations.
