Typescript [drafts of] a memorandum entitled 'Working notes' (3 and 2pp) by [Gordon Lawrence] for [Brendan Duddy], in 18 and 14 points. Giving a psychological appraisal of people following a 'Cause', particularly the leaders of the cause, and ramifications of their environment changing in the direction of peace - their need 'to reformulate their primary task' while not losing face. (With captions by [Éamonn Downey] providing the date, writer and addressee, stating it was written 'in the run-up to the '94 cessation', and suggesting the second item was placed with McGuinness's papers at some time (series 15).)

Typescript drafts of a biographical work on Arthur Shields by Laurie Shields; includes sections with titles 'Chapter 1: Mama and Papa', 'Foreword', also includes fragment beginning 'They say some marriages are made in Heaven but I know one which had its beginnings in the dining room of the St. Moritz Hotel in New York City.' This is an account of Laurie Shields' first meeting with Arthur Shields.

Typescript drafts of a number of pieces bound together; including a draft entitled 'Section of a Novel' which is a large extract from 'The Barracks' beginning 'Mrs. Reegan darned an old woollen sock as February night came on, her head bent, catching the treads on the needle....' Several other sections of 'the Barracks' are also included, however they are bound together in the wrong order. Also includes 'Episodes from a Novel' which consists of extracts from 'The End or The Beginning of Love' beginning 'It was fearful to lie there in the night, the moonlight on the scarred brass bells that hung from the railing at the foot of the bed, and wait for Mahoney to come home.' This extract appeared in X magazine in 1961. Also contains typescript draft of 'Coming into his Kingdom'' ' beginning ' "They're in love! They're in love! They're in love! Nora's in love with Stevie," ' the crowd of children cried at the fallen girl and boy.' Also contains a handwritten fragment of 'Strandhill, The Sea.' All drafts contain some handwritten amendments.
