The address talks about Pope Pius XI's 1937 encyclical 'Divini Redemptoris' on atheistic communism. The speech notes the growth of communism in Eastern Europe as World War II draws to a close, notes that economic ills must be addressed, and that Catholics and Christians 'should close their ranks against this new denial of Christianity'.
