Information to be faxed to Sedat Aslantaş from the Human Rights Centre, University of Essex, featuring a printout of a 22 September 1999 email from Elena Malagoni, Directorate General of Human Rights, Committee of Ministers, Council of Europe, to Kevin Boyle, asking if he is aware of any personal consequences that Aslantaş has faced as a result of his conviction 'such as the loss of his civic and political rights, prohibition to work as a lawyer etc. As far as I know, such consequences can result from a conviction to a one year's imprisonment or more, but do they also apply when the original penalty is converted into a fine?' As per the final page, Bill Bowring answered the email the following day from Turkey and forwarded a draft of calculated damages (included as part of the applicant's claim for just satisfaction, A44/43/1/9/10/3). Also included are photocopies of fines paid to the Turkish Government by Aslantaş.
