Handwritten copy of a newspaper article, detailing Adolphus Shields death after a fall on the East Pier in Howth. According to inscription the article appeared on 11 October 1923, 'no paper identification'. The reverse side contains a handwritten copy of a letter from Charles Saurin, No 1035, Hut 4, upper camp, Frongoch, Bala, N. Wales addressed to Lini Shields dated 6 July 1916. Saurin describes how he is working in the camp post office and writes that '[Tom] Pugh was up here this morning with parcels. We got out for a walk yesterday - about five minutes. This is grand country - mountains rivers, woods - grand colour.'
