Handwritten account of Arthur Shields' career with the Abbey Theatre. Appears to have been transcribed from the transcript of an interview given by Shields T13/A/392. Includes account of his experiences working with Lady Gregory, he writes 'Lady Gregory was a wonderful woman. Every play in my time, was read by her. She was very helpful, as you will gather from his autobiographies, to O'Casey in his early days. She never liked me but that did not matter, she was a great person.' He also writes about working with Lennox Robinson and touring with the Abbey, he writes 'Robinson wrote some very fine plays for us. "The Whiteheaded Boy" had the longest run of any Irish play. I got leave of absence from the Abbey to play in it when it went abroad. It ran in London, America and Australia for almost two years.
