Materials originally placed in sleeves at the front of the binder containing File 3 by the Essex legal team. These materials include:
1) Report of the European Commission of Human Rights on the case, in which the Commission concluded that there had been no violations of the European Convention of Human Rights with regards to the Şarlıs but that the Turkish Government had failed to comply with its obligations under former Article 25 of the Convention (21 October 1999, 58pp). The full report is available for viewing at https://hudoc.echr.coe.int/eng?i=001-46230
2) Memorial of the Turkish Government, in which it claims that no violations of the Convention occurred and requests the European Court of Human Rights to dismiss the case and any claims of compensation (9 May 2000, 20pp)
3) Cemile Şarlı’ statement of 17 May 2000 authorising her legal representatives before the Court (3pp);
4) The Government’s observations on the applicant’s claims for just satisfaction, in which it again requests the Court to dismiss all claims (17 August 2000, 3pp).
