Scope and content
Frank Dermody began as an actor with An Taibhdhearc in early productions, and he soon caught the eye of Micheál Mac Liammóir. In 1930 he was transferred to Cathal Brugha Barracks in Dublin, and trained in the Gate under Mac Liammóir, returning to Galway later that year to take up a position as producer. He stayed in that post until 1939 when he moved to the Abbey, where he remained until the late 1960s. In later years he returned as a guest producer for a number of plays in An Taibhdhearc.
