Final submissions on the merits of the Selçuk and Asker cases submitted on behalf of the applicants to the European Commission of Human Rights. It is noted in the introduction that even though the cases have not been formally joined at this point, the argumentation is largely mutually applicable. The submissions note the inconsistency and lack of credibility of Government witnesses, and the failure to open an investigation against Commanding Officer Recep Cömert, the officer accused by the applicants of ordering the burning of houses in İslamköy. Attached as an appendix is the published judgment of Bautista de Arellana v. Colombia, which concerned many of the same types of complaints as seen in Selçuk and Asker v. Turkey and resulted in a judgment in favour of the applicant.
