Final submissions on the merits of the Tanrıkulu case submitted on 17 March 1997 by the Turkish Government and on 31 March 1997 by the applicant to the European Commission of Human Rights, plus the Government's comments of 29 December 1997 on the applicant's claims under Article 25 of the European Convention on Human Rights. The Government again calls for the application to be declared inadmissible, stating that State agents were not responsible for the death of Dr Zeki Tanrıkulu and that domestic investigations into the murder continue. The applicant notes that Selma Tanrıkulu had been summoned to meet with the Diyarbakır Public Prosecutor after making her application, that Government accounts of her 18 November 1994 meeting with the prosecutor were inaccurate, and that she continues to be harassed.

The Turkish Government's observations are not permitted to be accessed until 1 November 2073.
