Scope and content
File of correspondence between Gabriel Fallon, trustee of the Lyric Theatre, and Pearse and Mary O'Malley, dealing with many matters relating to the Lyric Theatre, and to a lesser extent, Threshold magazine. Details his reasons for refusing to assist in getting the freedom of the city of Dublin for Seán O'Casey: 'for all O'Casey's genius and his love of Dublin, there is something incredibly mean-souled in the man' (28 October 1957). Also letter describing his worsening relations with the Abbey Theatre board, particularly Ernest Blythe: 'His politician's approach plus his ingrained inferiority complex make him "as tricky as a fish at full tide"' (23 May 1960).
