Correspondence authored, received, and/or compiled by Kevin Boyle, Aisling Reidy, and Françoise Hampson pertaining to the Timurtaş case. The correspondence is with the European Commission of Human Rights, the European Court of Human Rights, the Kurdish Human Rights Project, and the Diyarbakır-based legal team members. Notable items within this correspondence accessible to the public include: Hampson and Boyle’s letter of 9 February 1994 introducing the application; letters which accompanied documents and observations submitted on behalf of the applicants; requests on behalf of the applicant for extensions of document submission deadlines; the Court’s letter of 24 March 1999 informing that the Commission has referred the case to the Court; the Court’s 10 June 1999 granting of leave to the Center for Justice and International Law to submit comments on the case; the Diyarbakır lawyers’ schedules of legal fees submitted 13 July 1999; correspondence pertaining to the 23 November 1999 case hearing in Strasbourg including logistical details and the Court’s offer of legal aid; correspondence pertaining to Mehmet Timurtaş’s 2 April 1999 declaration of means and his local muhtar’s refusal to authorise it; and the Court’s letter of 5 June 2000 informing that a judgment has been adopted.
