Correspondence authored, received, and/or compiled by Bill Bowring, Kevin Boyle, Aisling Reidy, Suzy Sumner, and Françoise Hampson pertaining to the Ekinci case. The correspondence is with the European Commission of Human Rights, the European Court of Human Rights, and the Kurdish Human Rights Project. Notable items within this correspondence accessible to the public include: letters which accompanied documents and observations submitted on behalf of the applicant; Ülkü Ekinci's letters authorising Kevin Boyle, Françoise Hampson, and Sedat Aslantaş as her legal representatives; requests from the applicant's representatives requesting extensions for document submissions; the 16 July 1999 notice that Aslantaş has dropped the case and another domestic lawyer is required; the notice of 18 July 1999 from the Court declaring the case admissible; the power of attorney form to be signed by the applicant's son designating Bill Bowring, Osman Baydemir, Cihan Aydın, and Metin Kilavuz as legal representatives; letters from the Court requesting information from the applicant’s representatives and accordant letters of acknowledgment of receipt; letters from the Court which accompanied submitted documents and observations received from the Government; internal correspondence within the applicant's legal team and with her son Armanç Ekinci who acted as both a witness and as a go-between between Ülkü Ekinci and her representatives; excerpts from a book (forwarded to the legal team by Armanç Ekinci) on the Susurluk scandal, a scandal which exposed a close relationship between the Turkish government, the ultra-nationalistic paramilitary Grey Wolves organization and the Turkish mafia during the peak of the Kurdish–Turkish conflict in the mid-1990s; and materials pertaining to the final judgment in the case and the distribution of legal fees awarded to the representatives.

Correspondence and associated materials within the file that were created by either the European Commission of Human Rights or the Government of Turkey, as well as all materials pertaining to friendly settlement negotiations, are not permitted to be accessed until 1 November 2073.
