Application of Zübeyir Dündar submitted to the European Commission of Human Rights to pursue a case against Turkey regarding the unlawful 1992 killing of his mentally disabled son, Mesut Dündar, and the subsequent failure to carry out an effective investigation into the circumstances of the killing. Appendices (in Turkish with English translations) to the application include: statements of Zübeyir Dündar and Abdülaziz Dündar (son of Zübeyir and brother of Mesut) made on 16 January 1993 and on 23 September 1994 describing the incident; Mesut Dündar's death certificate; an interview with witnesses who witnessed the killing published in the Özgür Gündem newspaper on 19 November 1992; other newspaper articles relating to the incident; a copy of Zübeyir Dündar's petition to the Cizre State Prosecutor; a copy of Zübeyir Dündar's letter of authorisation authorising Françoise Hampson and Kevin Boyle to be his legal representatives; and photocopies of photographs of the body of Mesut Dündar being dragged behind an armoured personnel carrier taken by a Turkish journalist (GRAPHIC CONTENT WARNING).
