Scope and content

Statement (in Turkish with English translation) given by Şerif Aksoy to Mahmut Şakar, lawyer, of the Human Rights Association in Turkey, sent to the Kurdistan Human Rights Project following the killing of Zeki Aksoy. He reports how he was informed of Zeki Aksoy being taken to hospital, and how when he arrived at the hospital a policeman took him down to the basement to identify the body of Zeki, which was riddled with bullet holes. Şerif gave a brief statement stating that Zeki had no enemies or connections, that he did not know who killed him, and that if the government were to find his son's murderer that he would be a complainant. He states that he wishes to continue his son's application but asks that his name not be revealed as he is in fear for his life. Attached are a letter (in Turkish) from Şerif Aksoy to H.C. Krüger, Secretary to the European Commission of Human Rights, authorising Kevin Boyle and Françoise Hampson to be his legal representatives, and an application form to the Commission filled out (in Turkish) by Şerif.
