Scope and content
Statement (in Turkish with English translation) of Mahmut Şakar, lawyer, of the Human Rights Association in Turkey, sent to the Kurdistan Human Rights Project following the killing of Zeki Aksoy. Şakar notes that Aksoy's father, Mehmet Şerif Aksoy, will continue the application but his name must be kept secret as 'having the surname Aksoy was sufficient enough to be persecuted... ...M. Şerif Aksoy's name must be kept absolutely secret. I believe that we must not be the reason for a second person in one family being killed by reason of the application.' Şakar states that the Aksoy family have been unable to get clear information about Zeki Aksoy's killing, that communications from the European Commission of Human Rights to the Turkish Government are sent to the security forces where applicants live resulting in further inquiries and harassment, and that the Aksoy family have been forced to leave Kızıltepe.
