Issue of the Amnesty International publication Urgent Action (publication numbers AI EUR 44/51/95) regarding the detainment of Avşar family members. On 7 March 1995, Sedat Avşar and Hasip Avşar, cousins of Behçet Avşar and Şerif Avşar were detained and as of the publication date had not yet been brought to court. On 11 April 1995, Behçet and Şerif's brother Sait Avşar and cousins Ramazan and İlhan Avşar were also detained after having fled Diyarbakır due to threats against the family. Amnesty fears that the five detainees may be interrogated under torture and calls for action.
